If you own a website, you need to advertise. How you go about this is very important. Unless you have a big budget, a lot of these will probably be too expensive.
Tv and radio advertising will get you a lot of traffic, but will cost. There are companies who will advertise your site for you, some of these are very good, but there are others that are not so good, promising the world, but producing very little for your dollar. If you can afford this type of advertising, go for it !
Newspaper advertising is fairly straight forward, write your ad and present it to the paper, they will give you plenty of help in wording the ad to get the most out of it. You must make sure to place your ad in the appropriate location. Not much point putting your ad in a national newspaper if your business is only local. The same applies to written ads, ( letter box drops ) of course this is local area only.
Links can help you obtain a higher page rank. There are plenty of free and paid directories around that you can link to. All you have to do is provide the information required and write a short description of your website, remembering to use your main keywords. Doing this directory by directory is quite time consuming, but there are companies that will do this for you, for a price.
Adding content to your website helps improve your rating with search engines. Search engines love unique content, such as descriptive articles. If you are writing your own content articles, make them interesting , short and informative. It is also good to add a bit of humour. Professional writers are available, most are reasonably priced and will write either a short description or a full article to suit your website.
